Transition Mystery Color ASA Filament

Our transition color ASA filament is the same high quality ASA filament that our customers trust but in "mystery colors." These varying colors are the result of our changeovers from one of our standard color to another during production of our filament and cannot be reproduced. While supplies last. Items are not returnable or refundable due to color.

Note: These are not a rainbow filament.  The color change in each spool will vary and be very gradual.

*This product is limited to availability as we make changeovers. If you cannot add it to your cart, we are sorry, but we are out of stock.

Recommended Print Settings

Coex 3D recommends the following print settings when printing with our ASA. Settings will vary depending on your specific printing setup.

  • Hotend Temperature: 245 °C - 265 °C (High Speed: 255 °C - 275 °C)
    • Important! This temperature range may seem hotter than you're used to for other ASA filaments. Using 100% virgin resin causes our ASA to require slightly higher printing temperatures.
  • Heated Bed Temperature: 80 °C - 100 °C
  • Recommended Build Surfaces/Adhesives
    • Glass Build Surface
    • PEI Build Surface
    • Magigoo
    • Painter's Tape
    • Glue Stick
    • ABS slurry
  • Cooling Fan: Recommended.
  • Enclosure: Recommended to prevent warping
  • Drying: ASA filament is hygroscopic and will absorb moisture from the air if not stored in a dry environment. If this happens, you may experience under-extrusion/inconsistent extrusion or excess stringing. You may also hear a "popping" sound coming from the hotend during printing. We recommend drying our ASA at 65 °C for at least 3 hours if it has been exposed to excess humidity.

Tolerance: At Coex 3D, we use multi axis laser measuring heads to ensure a tolerance of ±.03mm.

Quality: All Coex 3D printer filament is manufactured in our Green Bay, WI production facility. This allows us to ensure consistent quality for every spool through control of every aspect of the manufacturing process.

Packaging: Every spool of Coex 3D filament is thoroughly dried in our industrial dryer before being sealed. Spools are sealed with desiccant in a 4mil thick vacuum bag.

Tested: Coex 3D doesn't just sell filament, we use it on a daily basis. Our 50+ 3D printers are constantly running with our filament. We rely on our quality as much as our customers do.

Excellent, consistent print!

I bought the Mystery ASA as a test since I didn't have experience with ASA and I wanted to use it for prototyping. I have an enclosed BLabs P1S. I used the generic ASA setting without making any significant tweaks and results impressively consistent. Personally, I think it's easier to print this ASA than many PLAs out there. As for the Mystery ASA, as long as you don't care about the grab bag approach and unknown color(s) you may receive, it's a great value.

Thanks for the reveiw Mark. Our ASA is kind of our 'go to' material with many commercial print jobs that we take on. It prints so smooth and consistent and I personally love the smooth and almost matte appearance of it. There are no matte additives, that's just the way the material looks when printed.

Perfect for prototyping

Same great quality as the regular Coex ASA Prime colors, just significantly less cost. This is my go to filament when I'm prototyping designs. It does no good to prototype with a different material or manufacturer. This saves me money and I don't have to worry about running out of my final design colors when I'm testing things. Yeah, I've had a few spools with some pretty ugly colors - not a fan of transition pink, blech ;-) - but who cares? It's not like I was looking for repeatable colors for production prints. Also had spools with very interesting and cool looking colors. Luck of the draw on colors, but the filament is great.
