C♻EXNext  1.75mm

COEX is helping make the world a better place one spool of PLA at a time. C♻EXNext PLA, is made from recycled scrap materials from our production process.

Coex 3D C♻EXNext PLA - The most environment-friendly 3D filament solution. Because of its low toxicity and ease of printing, PLA (Polylactic Acid) filament is a very popular choice in the 3D printing community. It looks great, is extremely easy to print with, and has generally good mechanical properties. It's perfect for prototypes and decorative models. We provide filament that gives excellent-looking and strong prints.

Coex's PLA is made with Virgin NatureWorks Ingeo 4043D resin, high-quality colorant only, and no fillers.

All of Coex 3D's filament is made in our production facility located in Wisconsin, USA.

As good or better than most competitors + or prime.

Recommended Print Settings

  • Hotend Temperature: 215 °C - 235 °C
    • Important! This temperature range may seem hotter than you're used to for other PLA filaments. Using 100% virgin resin causes our PLA to require slightly higher printing temperatures.
  • Bed Temperature: 0 °C - 60 °C
  • Recommended Build Surfaces/Adhesives: Glass, PEI Build Surface, Magigoo, Painter's Tape, Glue Stick

Technical Printing Guide - COEX PLA

1. Material Notes

  • Keep filament dry - store properly and dry before use
  • PLA is less hygroscopic than other materials, but proper storage helps maintain quality
  • If needed, dry at 55°C for 3 hours or more
  • Check for any visible damage before use

2. Basic Parameters

PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a biodegradable polymer known for its ease of printing, good surface quality, and dimensional accuracy. Perfect for decorative parts, prototypes, and general printing needs where mechanical properties are not critical.

4. Retraction Settings

Nozzle Distance Speed Z-Hop
0.4mm 0.5-0.8mm 45mm/s 0.2mm
0.6mm 0.6-1.0mm 45mm/s 0.2mm
0.8mm 0.8-1.2mm 40mm/s 0.2mm
1.0mm 1.0-1.5mm 35mm/s 0.2mm

5. Temperature Settings

Bed Temperature: 60°C

  • Wash the bed often for good adhesion - Use dish soap and rinse thoroughly to remove oils
  • Use bed adhesion products if necessary (gluestick, WELD3D)
  • Use brim for tall or large prints
  • Keep ambient temperature stable

Extruder Temperature: 215-235°C

6. Cooling Settings

Cooling Configuration:

  • First Layer: 0% (fan off)
  • General Printing: 100% base fan speed
  • Bridges and Overhangs: 100% fan speed
  • Layers < 15 seconds: 100% fan speed

Critical Considerations:

    • PLA requires maximum cooling for best results
    • Full fan speed helps with bridging and overhangs
    • The first layer needs no cooling for good adhesion
    • Small parts need maximum cooling

7. Troubleshooting Guide

 Problem Solution
Poor Layer Adhesion

1. Increase temperature by 5-10°C

2. Reduce cooling fan speed for first few layers

3. Clean build surface with IPA

Warping

1. Increase bed temperature to 60°C

2. Add brim (5-10mm)

3. Ensure no drafts in printing area

Stringing

1. Lower temperature by 5°C

2. Increase retraction speed to 45mm/s

3. Adjust retraction distance

Under-extrusion

1. Increase temperature by 5-10°C

2. Clean nozzle or try cold pull

3. Check filament quality

Poor Overhangs

1. Ensure 100% cooling

2. Reduce temperature by 5°C

3. Reduce print speed by 50%

PLEASE NOTE: These printing parameters are initial recommendations based on our experience. They may need adjustment depending on your specific 3D printer, environmental conditions, and the geometry of the part you are printing. Use these settings as a starting point and fine-tune them according to your specific needs.

Tolerance: At Coex 3D, we use multi axis laser measuring heads to ensure a tolerance of ±.03mm.

Quality: All Coex 3D printer filament is manufactured in our Green Bay, WI production facility. This allows us to ensure consistent quality for every spool through control of every aspect of the manufacturing process.

Packaging: Every spool of Coex 3D filament is thoroughly dried in our industrial dryer before being sealed. Spools are sealed with desiccant in a 4mil thick vacuum bag.

Tested: Coex 3D doesn't just sell filament, we use it on a daily basis. Our 50+ 3D printers are constantly running with our filament. We rely on our quality as much as our customers do.

Fantastic prototyping Material

I use this filament for my ETSY page and prototyping designs before moving to the standard PLA filament. It runs exactly like the standard filament, the only negative is that the color of the filament is variable but if you are painting the prints after it is a great cost effective alternative!

Matthew - I'm glad that you found a perfect use case for our CoexNext PLA - you are absolutely correct, it will print the same as any of our other PLA products but the color will never be the same from batch to batch based solely on what goes into it. For a video description of CoexNext you can see that right on the product page of our website. https://coex3d.com/products/coex-next-1-75mm?variant=41276032680119

Great filament great value!

Giant skeleton frog by flexi factory printed on Elegoo neptune 4 pro. Turned out flawless 220C 0.4nozzle .012 layer height 1.75mm Coex next 60c bed temp sliced on Cura for Elegoo

That frog looks fantastic - we have an Elegoo Neptune 4 Max here, maybe we'll have to print one for the showroom!

Decent for quick functional prints

This particular filament is made from a bunch of recycled material, not a bad thing. The rolls have a relatively consistent color and size throughout. A side by side compare however with the normal PLA sold by this group however, you can certainly see there is a quality degrade. This filament tends to be very stringy, and there are surface imperfections. The same settings with a 0.6mm end and the standard PLA provides a much better surface finish, and little cleanup. Supports with this material feel more difficult to remove, often leaving the latticework.

So, as the title says, if you're looking for a cheaper filament, this does the trick for functional parts that you don't mind the finish/polish of.

High quality PLA and very pretty. It’s consistent even though it’s using their scraps, and has a unique sparkle to it. I doubt unique spools would match, which is sad given how pretty the one I got is.
