Black CoexFlex™ 60D TPE

CoexFlex 60D is a thermoplastic copolyester elastomer (TPC). It flexes like TPU, but prints faster and has more strength, heat resistance and chemical resistance. 60D is the firmest grade in the CoexFlex line. Use it for parts that need to flex and bend repeatedly: grips, protective cases, seals, gaskets and functional prototypes.

Key properties

  • Rubber-like flex with strong layer adhesion
  • More heat, chemical and abrasion resistance than typical TPU
  • Prints on any TPU-capable setup

Recommended print settings

  • Hotend: 205–250°C
  • Bed: 25–85°C, heated bed recommended
  • Part cooling fan recommended
  • Build surfaces and adhesives: Magigoo, Magigoo Flex, painter's tape, glue stick, or PEI with a release agent. CoexFlex bonds very strongly to glass and smooth PEI.

Available CoexFlex hardnesses: 30D · 90A · 40D · 60D. See the full CoexFlex range.

CoexFlex 60D TPE print settings

Print CoexFlex 60D TPE with a 220–240°C nozzle, a 25–85°C bed and the fan at 0–40%, with no enclosure, and dry it at 50°C for 4–6 hours.

These are COEX 3D's recommended starting settings, made to match the COEX 3D filament settings tables for every filament we make in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Treat each value as a starting point and adjust it for your printer.

1. Material notes

  • Keep filament dry: store it sealed, and dry it again only after the spool has been exposed to air
  • Dry an opened spool at 50°C for 4–6 hours
  • No enclosure is needed
  • Preferably use a direct drive extruder
  • Print multiple parts one at a time (sequentially) to minimize stringing
  • Use maximum travel speed to minimize stringing

2. Temperature settings

Nozzle temperature: 220–240°C

Bed temperature: 25–85°C

  • Use a glue stick or hairspray as a release agent, or WELD3D. CoexFlex bonds very strongly to glass and smooth PEI, so a release agent protects both the print and the plate

3. Basic parameters

Unlike rigid filaments, TPE stretches as it is extruded and lays down thinner lines, so the line widths below are slightly smaller than the nozzle diameter. This keeps walls and perimeters properly bonded.

Nozzle Layer height Line width Max volumetric speed Nozzle temperature
0.4mm 0.2mm 0.38mm 4.5 mm³/s 240°C

5. Retraction settings

Important: Set travel speed to the maximum your machine allows (200–500mm/s). Faster moves give the filament less time to ooze, which reduces stringing.

CoexFlex 60D TPE retraction by nozzle size
Nozzle Distance Speed Z-hop
0.4mm 1.8–2.5mm 40mm/s 0.2mm
0.6mm 1.8–2.5mm 40mm/s 0.2mm
0.8mm 2.0–3.0mm 40mm/s 0.2mm
1.0mm 2.0–3.0mm 40mm/s 0.2mm

6. Cooling settings

Cooling configuration:

  • First layer: 0% (fan off)
  • General printing: 0% (fan off)
  • Force fan speed for overhangs and bridges: off
  • Layers under 20 seconds: 40% fan speed

7. Troubleshooting

CoexFlex 60D TPE troubleshooting
Problem Solution
Irregular extrusion
  1. Dry the filament
  2. Check the extruder
  3. Reduce speed
